2024

1. Almond croissant. Top 100 hikes in UK on TV. Long walk in Hardcastle Crags -National Trust - rainbows and 🌧️, crazy dog. Back for pork dinner. Watched loads of TV again. Show about Scandinavian nature. Will read Martin Amis in bed.
******
2. Back to work. Ukraine class. They were a bit subdued. Nata is truly beautiful. Liudmyla is amazing. Alex1 leads well. Fruit and kefir is good for the gut. The day seemed to fly by. By 16.30 I was fucking off on a train to Bradford for the Cinderella pantomime. It was spellbinding and Grandma was in her element. Rainy weather. Had to run home. Couldn't sleep till 3am.

3. Slept till 11am. Body clock out of sync. Bacon and egg sandwich for breakfast, passed up to Steve who has COVID. Straight on at work, good atmosphere - maybe I'm too pushy at times. New student Nour.  Friend of Dina's. Middle Eastern vibes. Could chat for hours. Made lamb from Riggs for tea. Fucked up the potatoes. Not bothered this time. Epic run to Morrisons. Bit of shit TV. Tried to sleep early. Will read myself to sleep again.

4. Longer working day. Chateauform class chill and reflective. Bacon and egg sandwich again. Great pad thai for dinner. Watched some more shit TV - but hairy bikers is good. Great run. Another 5 pound win on the lottery. Epic run to Morrisons. Getting back into the working groove. Hoping investments work out well in 2024.

5. Went out for tea. Duck and Chorizo casserole in an amazing pub. Soft drinks, good fun. Turned in a great first week of work. Less than 20 teaching hours. Back in the groove. Definitely prefer living alone for that though. Better to be lonesome in Vilnius. Not much to add, apart from keep winning small bits of money on the lottery - a but like a winning streak - until it all fizzles out again, like everything.

6. This break at home broke the circuit from crashing and boozing like fuck to despair at the weekends. It also helped to solidify my relationship with Mum and I'm really grateful for that. Had some chill over the last couple of weeks, coupled with some festive celebrations, well for a couple of days.

7. A ballbreaker of a travel day. Really was suffering on the six and a half hour trip down to fucking London. I should have been singing Sun Kil Moon songs, but it's alright. Back ache. Shit burger and chips at the airport. Fucking shit coke. No taste. Flight was okay, read some of London Fields. Came back to -20 with a fel-like of -29. Crazy. Felt good to get back actually. It's my hood, just got to keep my shit together. Not the best sleep but had about 4 or 4 hours. It's at least something. Just keep remembering how fucked it is when you're SLEEPLESS.

8-14. Pretty strong workweek, clocking in at 59.5 teaching hours. Seems like I'll be rich, but actually the xmas seasons costs a fucker. The discipline has gone really well in this first week back in Vilnius, working too much perhaps and compromising on the sleep - but what the hell?
The working week was pretty straightforward then, but the weekend brought all kids of shine:

Watched Return to Seoul, Past Lives and One Fine Morning - as per Kermode's top 5 of 2023, went to a classical music Symphoy of Sorrow at the opera house, applied for a new passport, went running twice in the snow, worked ten hours, took a long walk, had a curry with Diana.

So, settling back in well and truly and keeping up the clean living. All in all - not bad.
