First week of Dec

What a fucking week. Got back from Vietnam on Monday. Absolutely jet-lagged — like singed hair that’s just been burned. Slept it off pretty well, had a light day, loads of sleep, loads of stodgy food. Honestly can’t even remember half of it, but it took a few days to level up again. Stress has been way lower this week. Each day’s had small wins — little dopamine boosts. Tuesday was good: back at work, knocked out the articles I needed to write, and got a gold-style reply. Felt like a proper win. Wednesday was the real struggle. Had the interview for the existential therapy degree at Middlesex, and it brought some stumbling blocks — technical glitches, awkward moments, and then the kicker: the start date being September next year instead of January. Glad I’d put three irons in the fire and researched other programmes. Ended up just paying and committing to St Mary’s for January. Feel great about that. Feels like being a relegation-threatened team that’s signed Dominic Calvert-Lewin — a ...

42

Turned 42 recently. Didn't end up making it to Iceland as Play Airlines went bankruptcy. Went to Madrid insteady as a Plan B. It worked out well thanks to choice recommendations from Daniel Munoz from the British Council. Paule got me remembering John Coltrane tickets for my bday. Mesmerising. Looked after kids at the weekend and9 walked in the autumn leaves. Separate things. Typing this on a phone real quick but feels liked on 00getting back to the Livejournal Days.

Archive of May 2023

Running into Ram in the street yesterday was a bolt of glory. Disn't see it coming at all. Especially when I was in the process of questioning all my morals and principles and fighting, fighting, fighting that pagunda.  What a lesson it was, sitting and chatting in the Belaroosian bar, having non-alcoholic beer, seeing beautiful woman after beautiful woman walk past. It's simply more gratifying being there and then, in the moment with the person. Nice lamb kebab to boot too. Great that he's moved here too. He's got a job coding / networking and will hit the ground running. There's much more ti the guy from being a drunken cunt who plays loud music from his phone. He has got a lot of depth which could count for a lot when helping me on my pursuits. Not sure what this weekend will bring. At the time of writing, I'm in the middle of a triple-header of work shifts this weekend with the British Council. Will see PaulÄ— tonight, before doing a sludgey Sunday full of c...

Sept so far (first two weeks)

Started the month with some difficult arguments to be honest, but navigated a way through - they often start in public, with looking for directions and stuff. Still, not so bad - saw two films in the cinema - Life of Chuck and Caught Stealing. Both strong decent. Work going well. Did a piece about testing a Sharia Chat Bot and denouncing Islam. Not that I did that - but wanted to be protected haha.  Just done a writing competition for NY Midnight again - good fun. Parameters: drama / irritation/ raining on someone's parade. Went with a mythical drama. Two gods arguing over a green veg procession in a Nordic Village. Something like that. Was fun. Wrote in archaic English. Just been home solo. Good trip to see the kids. Vid call with Jord and Dusty too. When asked who's the boss, she answered herself. Off to Dublin now. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah on Tues. More latesers.

Update. The fucking size of it

Had a decent time in Malta, five days went by. I'm glad I'm documenting it now, because in years to go from now, I won't remember if I don't do this. So—great time ahead. Sorry, it was a great time behind. Wonky speech for me walking home, but I'm not gonna edit it. I'm gonna just put it as is in the blog. Yeah—some hiking, some old town, some Valletta, some whatever, some stuff, some heat, some burning, some skin peeling, you know. Another thing is—I met PaulÄ—’s parents. Well, her mom and her brother. That was cool. The next weekend was a nice time. Basic. Nice village to go to. Simple food. Chill. Nice walk in the forest. Job done. It’s taken five years to do that, but it’s done. I feel good about it. Warm people. I will go back there for Easter. That’s about the size of it. And then the weekend after—I was in, oh my god, how to say, I was at home in the UK. Took four days. Went to watch the football with my uncle. Saw my sister and the twins. Saw my grandma. ...

Feb the Feb the Feb so far

So, February has been a very, I don't know how to put it, dramatic and big month so far. We're two weeks in, it's currently Valentine's Day as I say this message in Vilnius, snowing, beautiful. And yeah, what's happened so far, I've been to a BBC event, World Questions, at the start of the month. Had some wine, got drunk quickly, shouldn't have happened but it's okay. Worked pretty well, work has been going well, apart from a slew of crazy incidents going on. The whole team's falling apart, lots of bitching going on. Basically just crazy behavior. Lots of articles have been deleted without the journalist's consent. There's a toxic couple of personalities going on in the office and it's just not really the best situation. All I want to do is see out the next week and complete my probation, I really hope it happens. No guarantees ever, you know, but I think it's okay. Surely someone would have said something that you don't know in t...

Low-stake-slow-flow-state

I got the, uh, growing sense that resisting parties, there was two last night, uh, is the best way to go. One was a work one, a work event, work do, work shindig, in a surf city, where virtual surfing or something like that, all the shit. Uh, the other was friends, apparently throwing a feast, in inverted commas, but fuck, I don't know how accurate these things are, at all, like, uh, feels a bit, I'm dead, so I just, uh, had a weekend on my own, what I'm having right now, I'm just chilling, getting things done, like a slow state, flow state, no, low stake, slow flow state, uh, still quite a grey and white sky here, but, everything is, is going okay, I'm covered in flour from the sourdough, uh, I just bought in the supermarket, and, uh, what's more, I got a writing competition, where I have to write a spy story, so that's about it, really, I'm just chilling, and, busting a groove, catch you later.
