Observations from the week #1
Important week for reflection , this one. Started out quite sleep-deprived on Sunday after lots of hot wine in Manchester and a game of football at the xmas market in Halifax. Freudian slip. Freudian sleep.
Seeung the babies at Lucia's was fun - and just getting back for the world cup to start was a lot of fun., especially after salmon and cream cheese flavoured bagels. Ecuador and Qatar - nice game.
The week circled and swirled around football for sure - but it's really hard to keep up with and watch all the games - simply not gonna happen if you're working - just grab what you can, when you can.
Felt more urges to do things outside the house in the evenings on Monday and Tuesday - but luckily got invited to the Gary Stewart's Graceland gig in Hebden with Tim and Jess, and it was great fun - beers, brilliant crisps spilled on the floor and lots of dancing and percussion - reminded me of Fleetwood Mac and Vampire Weekend as well as obviously Paul Simon.
Thursday in itself was a full-on therapy session - it felt like in The Leftovers - a true spiritual journey. She told me ''it's time to stop running'' - it was quite spooky. Some good analogies of asking yourself the questions of 20 years ago and then reverting back to your 10-year old self.
It was quite telling how we went into narrative mode with Batman. The hurt felt by Christian Bale's Batman and the crash, bang, wallop of Adam West's kitch version from the 1960's. It was great to take the session to that place.
Then had a one-to-one a bit later with Jane Nightingale and it seems that I have to set a target to have a night out without alcohol, as well as attend a few recovery sessions, as well as doing my reading homework. Lots to be going on with.
Visiting family felt like going into a timewarp. Part Boyhood, part Emmerdale - the kids grow up so fast - it was like a scary ''before and after'' production - four cousins - two with major developmental changes and two with smoother transitions - but still lovely.
Had Saturday devoted to cooking venison bourgignon and baking lemon drizzle cake. Felt so good cognitively and tastily. Didn't fuck up the cake like I thought I would and the french food speaks for itself.
Finished off the week with a lovely Sunday with sister and the twin boys, five of us went into Hebden Bridge and had a chill day. back to the house in the evening for all the above-mentioned food. But it's the lovely twin babies that make it. All in all, a very deep week furthermore towards.
